The Early Years of Jackson Pollock at the Picasso Museum
Categories : Exhibition, published on : 10/10/24
Starting October 15, 2024, the Musée national Picasso-Paris, located in the vibrant Marais district, will host an unmissable exhibition dedicated to the early works of Jackson Pollock, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. This retrospective, titled “Jackson Pollock: The Early Years (1934-1947),” ranks among the best exhibitions in Paris in 2024.
The exhibition focuses on a crucial period in Pollock's career, marked by diverse influences, including those of Mexican muralists, American regionalism, and European avant-gardes, including the work of Pablo Picasso. These inspirations illustrate how Pollock, as a young artist, explored innovative paths.
Quickly regarded as a pillar of American painting, Pollock achieved rapid success, yet his iconic status can sometimes separate him from his years of enriching artistic exchanges in New York, where he was profoundly influenced by European trends.
The goal of this exhibition is to highlight this experimental phase, a true laboratory for his future work. The journey reveals the artistic and intellectual context that shaped Pollock's unique style.
Visitors will be able to trace the key stages of Pollock's artistic evolution during these years of exploration. In addition to Pablo Picasso, essential figures such as Lee Krasner, André Masson, Janet Sobel, and William Baziotes will also be featured.
The exhibited works will include a variety of formats: paintings, prints, sculptures, and other pieces, offering a comprehensive overview of Pollock's artistic practices during this foundational period.
Don’t miss this exceptional exhibition, which ranks among the best exhibitions in Paris in 2024 and immerses you in the artistic vibrancy of the Marais!
Open until January 19, 2025. Open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:30 AM to 6 PM.
